Sunrise Attitude – An explanation

Sunrise Attitude.  It is a way of life.   That person that looks grumpy.  You know the one I am talking about.  Suppose they had a really bad weekend.  Someone they love is lost.  Their child was all kinds of misbehaving.  Money issues… pick one.   For some reason they are having a bad day.  Everyday may start out that way.  Ours is not to understand why, unless they choose to involve us. Maybe that person is you.  Are you a Grinch? Greet that person warmly.  With a smile, a handshake.  Compliment them on their attire.  Did they get a haircut? Doesn’t really matter, but if you see this person regularly, nearly everyday, did they get a hair cut? Sometimes, all it takes to brighten the day of another is a simple compliment.  A kind word. If this person works with you, compliment them on something that you saw them do.

Homeschool help and more

As we wait for the Facilitated IEP to be scheduled, we are homeschooling David, our youngest.  There are numerous websites that can be used to help facilitate the education of your child. Two of the better sites: www.abcya.com www.ixl.com www.toonuniversity.com www.schoolhouserock.com (I remember watching these when I was a kid, so was very happy to have found them again for my children.) I am looking for others, some sites allow you to use them on a limited basis without having a membership, others require you to pay a monthly or annual fee.  Either way, you and your child can benefit by not having to use worksheets and workbooks all of the time. The fee based sites track your progress which is beneficial when it is time for you to document your child’s progress each year. If you know of education related sites that make learning fun, comment on this post

Day 4 ~ Waking up with Pooh, Tigger, Eyeore and Christopher Robin

Day 4 in the household.  Fabulous morning, even if it is below zero.  We are definitely not morning people.  Well, except for our youngest son.  Seems like he is on a spring this morning. Tigger is actually a Pomeranian named Tobey.  And Tobey bounces up and down at the mere sight of someone going toward the door.  We call them four off’s, because he clears all four feet a good two feet off of the floor. His brother and playmate Eyeore is another Pomeranian named Brown Sugar Bear, or Sugar for short. Sugar doesn’t get excited about much except his Aunt Sheila. When aunt Sheila comes to visit, you would think that he was a puppy. Pooh is our Old English Sheep dog.  Pooh’s real name is Max.  Max loves the cold most of the time.  He prefers to be outside in the weather. No, I shouldn’t nickname him Pooh,
