and now the day is done

And now the day is done.  As a recap, my youngest daughter was assaulted in our small town school this morning.  She lost consciousness briefly and ended up losing memory of the event and about 10 minutes before and after the event.  She remembers sitting on the floor in the hallway and then remembers being in the classroom with no idea how she got there. She has a contusion on the back of her skull near the base.  CT Scans are normal. They scanned both head and because of the location, the nexk to make sure no damage was done to her neck.  A few centimeters lower and she could have suffered a severe neck injury. We filed a complaint with the deputy sheriff.  We are contacting an attorney. The school was told about bullying back in December.  They didn’t say anything to the student body about it to get

Toddlers, Tiaras and $exualization

So, in reality television there is a program called Toddlers and Tiaras.  I can’t say that I have ever seen it.  The premise is apparently mom’s who enter their daughters in beauty pageants.  The girls are painted up, dressed in what would be considered provocative clothing for an adult. What happened to personal accountability?  What is she doing to her daughter by entering her in these pageants?  Who is really to blame for the “sexualization” of her daughter? Or is it something like greed that is driving mom? It seems to me that being a kid is hard enough in this society with

Dad, I killed the car!

Another day done. For the most part, I would call this day a success. My girls, who have both been licensed to drive for less than 6 months killed the car tonight. They thought that they were in trouble, because it wouldn’t start… They walked home, then we went and got it after mom got home. A simple jump start cured it. Probably a weak alternator belt isn’t allowing enough juice to be generated, coupled with someone not shutting the door all the way and an interior light blinking occasionally. No big deal. And even so, if they had wrecked it or something, a car can be replaced. Lined up another IEP meeting for our oldest boy. Next week unless something shakes loose in the schedule this week. Tomorrow, our youngest son and I are going into the city for a psych consult. Hopefully he can get back on the
