An attitude for breakfast?

Full on attitude from David this morning.  He sees his potential placement in a residential facility as a badge of honor. I wish that he could understand how hard he is on the rest of the family.  Especially when he talks about how much he can’t wait to go to residential because they will let him do things that we can’t. Frustrating to his mother and I. While it is a relief to the family stress level that he is in a center, it is never a happy time.  We make the best of the situation because that is what is best for David.  Doesn’t mean that we like it. This mornings attitude was brought to us by “I didn’t get enough cereal for breakfast and don’t want to ask for more.” He makes excuses for his behavior.  “I didn’t have any more milk, so I couldn’t ask for more

and so it starts – trying to manipulate the world around him.

We picked him up from safe bed at 3:30.  4 hours later, we have already had nearly two hours of behavior. Because he had to eat supper before we could watch “friends”. What could have been a 10 minute meal, turned into nearly 40 minutes of behavior. All kinds of excuses regarding why he couldn’t eat.  Then 25 minutes of climbing around underneath the table instead of sitting in a chair. So we set the food in the fridge so that he can eat it for snack at 8pm. I compromised.  I also have a 30 minute recording of his behavior. We had a long day before we picked him up.  Hopefully we don’t have a long night as well. Rest easy my friends.  There is always hope that tomorrow will be a better day than today.  Yesterday is a memory.  We don’t need to forget the events of yesterday,

the next few days are going to be fun!

Well, big sister stopped by with a friend for a couple of minutes.  They didn’t stay long, as David was in tantrum mode. You see, mom got the bandages removed today, and we just can’t have someone else get more attention than he is getting. So big sister and friend turned around and left.  I don’t blame them, if I had a chance to get away for a bit, I would do so. What kicked off the tantrum?  I asked him to clean up his toys and junk in the living room. Since other people’s stuff was in the area, he reverted to the stand by argument that “I am not supposed to touch stuff that doesn’t belong to me.” In reality, he is correct, isn’t he?  But… As I walked away he made some inane comments.  About what I have no idea, and it doesn’t really matter. So since
