Martian Child – A review

I DVRed, Martian Child because one of the main actors is John Cusack. Who is one of my favourite actors, and has been since the days of “Better Off Dead”. This movie, oh, how do I explain this?  This movie touches on a subject that is dear to my heart.  The character that Mr. Cusack plays, David, , a father, adopts a boy, Dennis.  Dennis thinks of himself as a Martian.  He has special needs. The movie starts out with David debating the thought of adopting a child.  During the process of making this decision, we see him engaging this child, and bringing him into his life.  What some might find odd is that the child appears to believe that he is actually a Martian. He knows, does and says things that make the audience believe that he could in fact be a Martian. David, begins to develop a deep

key noises while typing

David has these old keyboards to play with. We lop the cord off, and he plays with them until the keys start to fall off, or we get tired of stepping on them.  We have gotten as much as a year out of a Compaq/HP keyboard.  It entertains him, and he knows that is the only one he can play with. Until. David decided that the noise he heard when he was typing on his keyboard wasn’t right.  It was, as he put it, “boring.” So he went looking for a keyboard that made the right noise.  Found a scissor, lopped the cord off, and now he is happy. Except. It was my favourite keyboard. No idea why it was my favourite.  I just liked typing with it.  Odd that I should think that, after all, I haven’t used anything except a laptop in over a year.  Oh, well. Tweet

an incredible day ~ 3-22-2012

Today was a huge Victory! David went the whole day without major trouble. He was saddened by events in our community, but I am not ready to talk about that. Not much more can be said about the day.  He did what he was asked to do, and what he was meant to do, and he did it without complaint.  When he was confronted about anything, he didn’t run and hide behind anyone, he didn’t hem and haw about how he was wronged by society or his siblings. I was most impressed with his behaviour today. Tweet #fighting4answrs
