Reblog: Posco AAC App for Children (and adults!) with Special Needs – Giving Christmas

Basic Posco AAC App Great for with Speech Difficulties I will be doing a full review of this app in the future, but the developer has been kind enough to offer to give away TEN copies of this normally $10 app, so I wanted to share a few quick thoughts and let you enter to WIN! First, What is an AAC App? Well, it stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and is generally used for individuals with speech or communication disorders. So a child with autism could use this app on his iPad to help speak for them, or an adult stroke patient could bypass frustration by doing the same. Different but still a Great AAC App option I just shared about another AAC App available called Talk Rocket Go, and while I won’t be sharing all the differences here, I would say that Posco is a simpler  AAC App which offers

Working on a Series of Posts about Autism Stories

We are working on a series of posts titled Voices of Parents with Autistic Kids – The Truth as We Know It.  As such we need your stories.  If you could tell one story about your child with Autism, what would it be?  Names will be changed to protect your identity. There are even reports attempting to tie the killer to a childhood vaccine adverse reaction. We understand that people need answers.  But we also understand that we don’t want them using our kids’ diagnosis as a scapegoat.  The killer may have had a mental illness.  He

Reblog: AAC iPad App for Children with Special Needs – Giving Christmas #1

Amazing iPad APP for Children with Autism, Aphasia, or Other Problems Speaking!   I’m leading off the Giving Christmas Giveaways with this amazing APP for children with special needs that include problems speaking. My review is yet to come on this since I want to spend more time reviewing all the features, but I have to say – I am impressed! Normally a $99 app – even with the cost of the iPad, this means families who need a communication device for their children with mild to severe speech issues have found a great deal! (To put this in perspective, 3 years ago we used a grant to purchase a communication device for Logan, for $350 – and it’s sat in the closet since because it was difficult to use for him!). You can add any vocabulary item, organize any of them into groups, organize words or groups by location,
