In Sickness and in Health

When my bride and I got married, that was a part of our vows.  As I am sure it was for most of our readers. It seems to me that when we have children there is an implied vow “in sickness and in health”. I don’t know of any parent who wouldn’t gladly switch places with their child who has a life threatening illness. In the last weeks before we placed David, I heard a lot about how he was affecting my health.  And it is true, he was having a major impact on my health.  You see, I have a couple of different illnesses; illnesses that react in a negative fashion when confronted with Stress. If I could somehow fix David by giving every ounce of good health that I had, I would do so.  In a heartbeat.  No question about it. However.  When he started to drain the

what is this? an mp3 player?

Received a phone call tonight from the residential facility where David is. Seems he had an mp3 player.  The staff was pretty sure that it belonged to the cottage, but David can tell a pretty convincing lie. David evidently told the staff that we had given it to him. Nope! So they called and asked. David spent most of a week in the psychiatric unit before he went there, he didn’t have an mp3 player there. They did catalog all of his stuff when he first arrived in the residential facility, so I am not sure why they wouldn’t have checked that listing.  Like we told them, one of David’s triggers is electronic devices. So now he has consequences. Related articles 20 Euros and a mp3 Player (whynotfathers.com) stealing from school (whynotfathers.com) Tweet #fighting4answrs

it is 2am why am I still awake?

It is 2am here in why not fathers land. The doctor would have a conniption if she knew I was awake all night long. David has only been gone a couple of days, it isn’t that easy to readjust your internal clock without taking a huge amount of pills for a couple of days to do it.  Plus, my body doesn’t respond well to forced wakefulness.  It has to do things gradually. It comes from having Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Hypothyroidism.  You learn to do things gradually. Oh well, tomorrow night I can start working on my book a bit, and a few other things that I put off while I was caring for David full time.
