I don’t understand

Something struck me this morning.  My son was in a psychiatric facility for more than a year. He was discharged when Medicaid decided to stop funding his care. No transition plan was in place the day my son was released to our care. We have made the best of the last two weeks and I think we have done fairly well.  David has done fairly well. Not one call from any of the staff at the facility to see how we are faring.  To see how David is faring. We have gotten packets of files and documents but no after care or follow up. I feel like David was abandoned by parts of the system that are supposed to help.  I don’t depend on the Government. I depend on people. the art of positive thinking

Monday, when I pick up my son, magic will happen.  He will see that I love him unconditionally. He will see that I am accepting of him. He will see that we are embracing his return to the family. He will know the love that we have in our hearts. Tuesday when we arrive home, he will be greeted by his siblings and Mom happily. He will see that they love him unconditionally. After that, come what may, everything will be right with our world.   If you would like the book that has helped me get through this week, please go here… or click on the image on the right. they are giving a copy away soon. The appeal to Medicaid to further fund services has been denied. As a result, I will be picking up David from the facility on Monday.  We then come home to begin a new chapter in our lives as a family. We had an IEP meeting for him this morning. Short term he will be homebound working on school materials supplied by the district. Long term we are applying to a day program for him. During the IEP meeting we got a look into the life of David. Minimum five hours a week of intensive group therapy. Weekly individual therapy. Weekly family therapy. He is in a self-contained classroom for all but two classes. Those two classes are Art and Physical Education. His therapist makes regularly daily contact throughout each day to ensure that David knows she is checking on how he is doing. He has 24×7 staff support of some
