Peace and Tranquility

Mr. David must not be feeling well.  This is the second day in a row that he has taken a nap in the middle of the day.  This is so unlike him. He is excited about going to the respite family tonight.  It is my hope that we find success in respite, I think that it would be very good for him to have another family that cares for him as much as we do.  They live on a farm, and if the weather is nice this weekend, he will get to take the rabbits out of the hutch and play with them in the yard. Since he is an animal lover, this should fit right in with his tastes.  The family has two dogs, four cats, two bunnies and are planning to get some chickens.  I am excited for him.   Tweet #fighting4answrs

and now a call from the prize patrol

We have been in the city since early this morning for my doctor appointment. David spent some time with his grandfather. He has been incredibly patient this morning. While I was at grandpa’s house grandpa got a phone call from someone who wanted to know if they could deliver his prize today. The prize? 4.5 million dollars, dad just had to pay 1% of the prize and give his checking account number. Dad handled it very well. Told him to take the fee out of the check and then mail him the check. The guy called twice, and each time Dad did the same thing. Pretend to be hard of hearing, not speak very good english, and then say goodbye. We had a good laugh about it. Tweet #fighting4answrs

Our son is in a residential facility in the city near where we live.  He has been there for almost 6 moths.  Today, I got a call that was nothing but positive about him.  I am so impressed with his change, and while I realize that there will be times when he reverts to his old behaviors, I am very proud of the person he is becoming.  Too often as parents we let the past remind us of how a child is.  We realize that we need to let go of hurtful feelings and give the child a chance to start anew.  Never forgetting of course the history.  If we don’t look at and remember the history, we are doomed to repeat it.  He has come
