he likes to lie. not like taking a nap, but like story telling.
if a lie has a hint of truth, it is that much more believable.
So I call him out on each one. Get that heavy deep body sigh.
So I ask him, do you know what happens when you lie?
His response?
“But I am not lying.”
Yet, I can prove that he is. Every time he lies.
What does he gain by lying?
I finally had to tell him that if he continues to lie, we will never be able to trust him. He doesn’t understand why we don’t trust him.
How can you trust someone who will look you in the eye and flat out lie?
If nothing else, maybe he can get work as a storyteller.

Mine still lies every day, two years after coming home from placement. It’s hard having to manage that, keep on top of it moment by moment. Praying strength and hope over you and your wife. And praying his partial day placement will be emotionally safe and a positive place he can learn healthy patterns so he can practice them at home in baby steps.
