My daughter recently returned from a mission trip. The goal of the ministry was to aide in serving the homeless population in a large city.
My daughter, who is in considerable pain from an injury to her leg, and wearing a knee immobilizing brace said that they best part of the mission trip was busing tables.
“Why,” I asked her, “was that the best part of the trip?”
“Because it gave me a chance to talk to the people.” was her reply.
Now my daughter is normally reserved around people she doesn’t know, so this is a huge statement about how profound the experience was for her.
I couldn’t be more proud.
