mediation results

We had mediation today.  Wasn’t too thrilled with the mediator, but not any choice in the matter. In the end, we let them know that we are pursuing a residential placement for our son. Until that happens, we are going to pursue a day treatment program, which is what the school has wanted since last January. Until either of those two things happen, the school is going to provide the curriculum, and my wife will be teaching him. We could not get the principal to admit her lies, but we didn’t really expect to get that kind of admission either.  At least we came to a consensus regarding our son’s education.  Above all else, he is what is most important. Oh, one other thing, as a plan C, they want us to consider residential placement in either Duluth, MN; Billings, MT; or Denver, CO.  Not sure that anything like that

Mediation meeting today

Today we meet with the mediator.  On the other side of the table is the school district.  All told, there will be 20 people at this meeting for our son.  It is a struggle for us. We are fighting to keep David in public school in our home town.  We have been fighting for a long time. I don’t know, but, I am tired of the us versus them nature of this struggle.  We should be working together for David’s care, not fighting each other. More as we know it. holy meltdown time Batman

We just had the mother of all meltdowns.  Haven’t seen one this bad for a long time.  He attempted to attack his older sister, and then went into full off complaint mode talking so fast no one could understand him.  After which he started to attack me.  I ended up laying him on his belly across a bed and laying across him so he couldn’t move.  Very scary.  I am a large guy.  he is less than 80 pounds, and it was all I could do to keep him from hurting either himself or someone else. I swear that for a few minutes, I wasn’t sure he was my son. All over two things.  An ink pen and he didn’t want to take his meds. Now he is happily playing with his cars. and medicated. Calling into psych right now.   Tweet #fighting4answrs
